ANN ARBOR, MI -- Medical research instrument company Accuri Cytometers has closed its second round of venture funding, receiving $5 million in new investment.

Accuri claims it has designed a benchtop research system that allows biomedical scientists to utilize its flow cytometry system at a fraction of the cost of existing systems and with greater ease-of-use.

Baird Venture Partners led the financing, which included Ann Arbor neighbor Arboretum Ventures as a participant.  The company intends to use the proceeds to expand beta testing and position the company for commercial launch in 2008.
